I thought what Heather Barrington (our Children’s Team Leader) shared with us on Sunday was really helpful as we encourage our children to pray, and as we pray with them ourselves.
STOP
We need to remind them to stop first. ” Be still and know that I am God”. God spoke to Elijah in a gentle whisper so we need to be still for a moment to listen.
Then ….
- Sorry
- Thanks
- Others
- Please
Then let’s encourage them to read their Bible asking God to speak to them. Encourage them to tell God that they are listening and want to hear from him. Suggest they keep a notebook to write or draw anything they think might be from God. Then encourage them to share it with you so you can help them understand what God is saying.
It’s something we can all do.
