Yesterday I had the privilege of visiting a number of people who are housebound, or unable to get to church, to share communion with them. One lady, Jane, is always a real tonic. In her late nineties she is confined to her chair having lost her sight, her mobility and most of her hearing. She loves Jesus, prays earnestly for me and Burlington and laments that she can no longer do anything for God.
During our conversation she shared how an elderly neighbour had visited only a few weeks ago with the weight of the world on her shoulders. Then she said (in a matter of fact way like it happens to us everyday): “I told my neighbour that she needed Jesus, we knelt on the floor and prayed, and my neighbour invited Jesus into her life!” Then Jane added, “I was thrilled to bits!” So she should be, God had used her.
God can use us whatever our circumstances.
