Today I stood at that same graveside as we buried the lady I had watched three years ago. Don’t miss the things that matter most.
Last week I stood with an octogenarian beside the graveside of her late husband as she said a final farewell after 66 years of marriage. It was hard to watch. I found myself wondering of all that they had shared: the laughs, the dreams, even the struggles. I wondered what she would trade for one more laugh, another smile or a final touch. In the end there are some things that matter so much more than anything else.
That same day I went to an 18th birthday party with close family & friends. As four generations celebrated together, the thoughts of that lady were still with me. This matters, and there is nothing I would give in exchange for it.
Do something today that reminds you, and shows others, what really matters most.
