The Father-heart of God (I): Orphan heart or heart of sonship?

This morning I am speaking on the Father-heart of God as part of our key series “Lord teach us to pray.”  Whilst we know that God is our Father, many Christians still find themselves living (responding & reacting) as though they were orphans.  This very helpful summary of responses, enables us to see where we are still far away from the Father’s heart.  Be prepared for a bit of a shock.  You may find that you are not living out of being a child of God as much as you thought.

My suggestion is that you find a quiet moment this week to invite the Father to be with you and to prayerfully, before him (Psalm 139:23-24), go through the list asking him to show you areas of your life where you are far from his Father’s heart.

Like in the story of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32), when we choose to turn away from these wrong ways of living and head towards home, the Father runs to meet us with arms open wide.
